Dem Rep. Connolly keeps Va. congressional seat

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Republican Keith Fimian is conceding a narrow loss in a northern Virginia congressional race to incumbent Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly.

Fimian conceded Tuesday after initial results in the 11th Congressional District race last week showed him finishing about 900 votes behind Connolly.

The margin was narrow enough under Virginia law to qualify for a court-supervised recount, but Fimian has decided not to pursue a recount.

Fimian refused to concede last week, saying he wanted to take the weekend to ponder his options.
