The Big House was far from the only place where offenses where having their way Saturday.
Michigan’s 67-65 triple overtime victory against Illinois highlighted a day filled with prolific offensive performances.
Three teams gained more than 700 yards, including Nevada, which set a team record and a season high for major college football with 844 in a 63-17 victory at Idaho.
No. 2 Boise State (737) and No. 19 Oklahoma State (725) also set school records for yards in blowout victories.
For the Broncos, Kellen Moore set a career best with 507 yards passing in 42-7 win against Hawaii.
Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden threw for a school-record 435 yards in a 55-28 victory against No. 22 Baylor.
Coming into Saturday, only three teams had surpassed 700 yards this season, including Oklahoma State’s 722 on Sept. 18 against Tulsa.
In Ann Arbor, the teams combined for 1,237 yards of offense, 676 for the Wolverines, in the highest-scoring game in the history of both Big Ten and Michigan football.
Navy didn’t even need overtime to surpass Michigan’s point total. The Midshipmen beat East Carolina 76-35, the highest-scoring game of the season for the winners.
Kansas did most of its scoring in the fourth quarter. The Jayhawks scored a school-record 35 points in the final 15 minutes and rallied from 28 points down to beat Colorado 52-45.
