Michigan St: NCAA championship or bust

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State coach Tom Izzo says he has no regrets about turning down a chance five months ago to make $6 million this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Izzo insists he wants to finish his career with the Spartans, where he has won a national championship, advanced to half of the last 12 Final Fours — including the last two — and earned his fifth and sixth Big Ten titles the previous two seasons.

The second-ranked Spartans have three of their top four scorers back from last season’s team that won 28 games and ended the season with a two-point loss to Butler.

Central Michigan knocks off Western 26-22

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Ryan Radcliff threw his second touchdown pass of the night in the fourth quarter to give Central Michigan a 26-22 comeback win over Western Michigan on Friday night.

Western (3-6, 2-3 Mid-American Conference) took a 22-13 lead late in the third quarter on Juan Nunez’s 11-yard touchdown reception.

The Chippewas (3-7, 2-5) responded with two touchdowns, a 1-yard run by Carl Volny and Kito Poblah’s 5-yard catch with 6:10 left. The 2-point conversion failed, but it was enough for the Chippewas.

Western’s Alex Carder also threw two TD passes. He was 27 of 44 for 272 yards.

Radcliff, who finished 23 of 36 for 300 yards, was sacked in the end zone in the first quarter to make it 7-2.

Central’s Cody Wilson caught 12 passes for 185 yards and a first-quarter TD.
