Austin Collie

Austin Collie Austin Collie

Austin Collie  Obviously, a concussion isn’t a minor injury, and Collie’s appeared as severe as any suffered by an NFL player this year. But knowing that Collie is seemingly out of the woods as far as paralysis is concerned will likely change the discussion from his status to the officiating of the hit.minutes before being carted off on a stretcher. We’ll update the post as news and videos become available. UPDATE: Phil Simms said during the telecast that Austin Collie was sitting up and alert and his diagnosis was a concussion.

The Austin Collie hit wasn’t nearly as bad as the ones DeSean Jackson, Mohammed Massaquoi, or Todd Heap took a few weeks back, but judging from the way Collie reacted following the hit, this may be just as serious safeties Kurt Coleman and Quinton Mikell late in the second quarter. Coleman was flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver although it appears Collie had two feet down and made a “football” move. Either way, this week’s football “controversy” has been set.

Collie suffered his injury when he was hit twice and sandwiched by Eagles defensive backs Kurt Coleman and Quintin Mikell. After being down on the ground for several minutes, Collie was taken off the field on a stretcher. Officials then flagged the Philadelphia Eagles, for unnecessary roughness Eagles’ wide receiver DeSean Jackson – who was playing for the first time since suffering a concussion of his own during Philadelphia’s game against Atlanta in week 6  commented on the hit Collie received, and said that he thought it was a legal hit. Did you watch the Eagles vs. Colts game yesterday.
